At Colegio Internacional de Granada, we understand that supporting adolescents in their personal growth involves not only their academic development but also their emotional, social, and affective well-being. For this reason, as part of our Parents’ School program, we held a particularly relevant talk on emotional and sexual education, given by clinical child psychologist Julia Sáez. The session became a valuable space for students and families, where essential topics were addressed in an accessible, clear, and age-appropriate manner.
The students participated in a session designed to help them understand the changes that come with adolescence. This stage involves physical, psychological, and emotional transformations that can generate concerns, doubts, or insecurities. Therefore, having a safe environment where they can be informed and express their questions is essential.
During the talk, they were offered key insights to know themselves better, understand their emotions, and realize that personal development is a natural process that requires time and support. Addressing these aspects is a central part of the work we carry out at our school in Granada, where we seek to educate confident students who are prepared to face the challenges of every stage of their lives.
For the families, the session provided an opportunity to reflect on how to approach emotional and sexual education at home. Adolescence is a period when communication can become more complex, and young people need role models who offer them clear information and, above all, trust.
The talk provided practical tools for knowing when to initiate certain conversations, how to adapt them to each situation, and how to respond to doubts that may arise. This approach strengthens the family bond and creates an atmosphere that facilitates continuous dialogue, something we consider fundamental at our bilingual school in Granada.
The session was not only focused on the specific content of emotional and sexual education but also fostered collective reflection on the importance of supporting adolescents with respect, empathy, and listening. Students, families, and teachers shared a common goal: to create an educational environment that favors the emotional and personal growth of every student.
At our high school in Granada, we work to ensure that every training session contributes to building a solid relationship between all members of the educational community. Collaboration between the center and families is key for students to feel supported, valued, and understood at a vital time when every step has a profound impact on their future.
From our bilingual high school in Granada, we maintain that emotional and sexual education is an essential part of the students’ comprehensive development. Addressing it appropriately contributes to forming responsible young people who are self-aware, capable of identifying their emotions, and building healthy relationships based on respect.
This approach is part of how we understand education: to accompany, guide, and offer tools that serve them both inside and outside the classroom. That is why spaces like the Parents’ School are so valuable for strengthening the educational community and coordinating efforts between school and family.
The talk given by Julia Sáez has provided a further boost in this line of work, reminding us of the importance of opening spaces for dialogue that allow our students to grow informed and supported. We will continue to promote initiatives that contribute to their emotional well-being and their integral development, always with commitment and accessibility.
