At our international school in Granada, every achievement by our students is a source of pride, and today we want to highlight a particularly significant one: the participation and recognition of our students in the 15th Short Story Literary Contest for Young People, “Al borde de lo inconcebible” (On the Verge of the Unthinkable).
Every year, this competition brings together young writers with immense creative sensitivity, capable of transforming ideas, emotions, and stories into texts full of power and imagination.
During the last academic year, several students from our school decided to take a step further in their literary training and submitted original short stories, created with enthusiasm and effort. Writing is an essential tool for academic and personal development, and participating in initiatives like this not only allows them to improve written expression but also to enhance critical thinking and creativity—fundamental values in our educational project.
We are proud to share that two of our students excelled particularly in this contest: Leo G. (Year 8 / 2.º ESO) and Eva (Year 10 / 4.º ESO), finalists in this edition. Both received their diplomas and recognition at the official ceremony held last Friday, September 26th, an emotional moment that valued their dedication, literary sensitivity, and ability to create original and profound stories. This achievement is a testament to the talent that grows every day in our school and the commitment of our young people to culture, reading, and learning.
At our school in Granada, we work to ensure that our students find in reading and writing not just an academic discipline, but a form of expression and personal discovery. To write is to think, to order ideas, to know oneself, and to communicate a unique perspective to the world. For this reason, we encourage literary creativity from the earliest educational stages and urge students to participate in contests, workshops, and cultural activities that awaken their passion for narrative and literature.
The success of Leo and Eva is the result of their talent, but also of constant effort—hours dedicated to reading, imagining, and correcting—and the courage to share their work with others. In a world where immediacy and digital communication prevail, pausing to write an original story, carefully crafted with detail and emotion, is a valuable act that demonstrates maturity, reflective capacity, and discipline.
At our bilingual secondary school in Granada, we particularly value experiences that encourage students to surpass themselves and enjoy learning. Participating in a literary contest means facing the challenge of writing without limits and without fear of exploring new ideas. Our finalists have made it clear that imagination, when accompanied by perseverance and hard work, can open doors and generate unique opportunities.
We also want to recognize the work of the teaching staff who promote these initiatives, guide students in their creative processes, and create spaces where literature is experienced with excitement. The dedication of our teachers and the support of families are key to enabling our students to grow and excel beyond the classroom.
This literary recognition is a cause for celebration for our entire school. It strengthens our conviction that education must support the student in all their dimensions: academic, emotional, creative, and human. At our secondary school in Granada, we will continue to promote cultural experiences that inspire our students to think, discover, and create.
To Leo and Eva, our most sincere congratulations. Thank you for representing our bilingual school in Granada with such pride and sensitivity, and for demonstrating that imagination and effort are powerful tools for building stories that leave a mark.
